next club odds: Man Utd clear favourites for Spurs star, with Bayern Munich second at 16/1

MANCHESTER UNITED are the overwhelming favourites to sign Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane this summer.

That's according to Sky Bet, who've priced Erik ten Hag's side at 5/2 to clinch his signature during the summer transfer window.

The striker has spent the entirety of his professional career on the books at Tottenham, which include a number of loan spells he was sent on as a youngster.

Having broken into the team at age 21, Kane has gone on to score a record breaking 272 goals for Tottenham across his 426 appearances.

The striker, who will be 30 by the time the 2023-24 Premier League season also recently broke the all-time goal scoring record for England, and now has 55 goals in 82 following the most recent international break.

Kane has also been the captain of England for five years now, having been appointed to the role in the build up to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he went on to become just the second Englishman to win a World Cup Golden Boot.

The England captain has scored goals for fun for almost his entire career, but one department where he's lacking is the number of trophies the 29-year-old has won.

Despite his record breaking number of goals, the Tottenham frontman is still yet to get his hands on any piece of silverware for club or country.

It's becoming increasingly likely that the striker may seek a move away from north London in order to join a club with a better chance of winning silverware.

The Spurs star has reached three cup finals with his club, most notably the Champions League final on 2019, but his side have come out second best on all three occasions.

Manchester United have become the overwhelming favourites to sign the England captain in the summer, with Erik ten Hag's side in need of a new striker to lead the line following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier in the season.

While Tottenham appear to be a side in decline at the moment, having recently sacked manager Antonio Conte following a rant aimed at the club's owners and players, Man Utd seem to be on a better path.

After a disappointing season last campaign, the appointment of ten Hag seems to have got the feel good factor back at the club, with the Dutchman having already secured a Carabao Cup trophy in his first season to end a six year drought.

The Red Devils signed Dutch striker Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley in January to try and fill the gap at striker, but with a return of two goals in 19 games, the club will likely look elsewhere for a better replacement.

Sky Bet odds

  • Manchester United - 5/2
  • Bayern Munich - 16/1
  • Chelsea - 25/1
  • Newcastle - 25/1
  • Manchester City - 33/3
  • Real Madrid - 33/1
  • Barcelona - 40/1

German giants Bayern Munich are also in the conversation of signing the Englishman, priced at 16/1 with Sky Bet.

Bayern, who look likely to win an 11th league title in a row this season, sold their star striker Robert Lewandowski in the summer without finding a replacement.

34-year-old former Stoke forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been leading the line this season, and Kane would be huge upgrade on the Cameroonian should he join.

Many in England are of the opinion that Kane would rather not leave the Premier League though, with Alan Shearer's goal scoring record in his sights.

Kane now has 205 Premier League goals and is third on the all time list, just three of Wayne Rooney and 55 shy of Shearer's 260.

The 29-year-old is averaging around 25 league goals per season, so would theoretically only take another couple of season to break Shearer's long standing record.

Chelsea and Newcastle are both in the picture to sign Kane but have slightly longer odds of 25/1, while Manchester City, Real Madrid (both 33/1) and Barcelona (40/1) are also outside bets.
