Next England Manager: Most likely candidates if Gareth Southgate leaves after World Cup 2022

Gareth Southgate is under contract until December 2024. He has led England to a World Cup semi-final, third place in the Nations League and a European Championship final since November 2016. England are preparing for their 2022 World cup quarter-finals against France this weekend. Mirror Football takes a look at the most likely candidates to become the next England manager if Gareth Southgates decides to leave after the World Cups.

Mauricio Pochettino is the most likely candidate to replace Gareth Southgate as the next England manager. He won the Ligue 1 title with PSG in his final season in charge. Pochetino has been out of a job since July.

Brendan Rodgers is a surprise early front runner to take over from Gareth Southgate as England manager. He guided Leicester to FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs last year and consecutive fifth-place finishes to earn them Europa League football in 2020/21 and 2021/22.

Thomas Tuchel is the favourite to become the next England manager. He was sacked by Chelsea in September. If Gareth Southgate leaves the Three Lions, Tuche would be interested in taking over. He has already turned down a number of job offers.
