NFC South odds: Falcons now favored over Saints

The New Orleans Saints have either been favored or co-favored to win the NFC South in 2023, but that is no longer the case.

The Saints dropped to 3-4 on the season after a Week 7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Atlanta Falcons were able to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to improve to 4-3 and take hold of first place in the division.

The oddsmakers reacted after these results, as the Falcons are now +100 favorites to win the NFC South at Caesars Sportsbook, with the Saints now at +200.

The winner of the Falcons-Bucs game was set to leapfrog the Saints in the standings and on the odds chart, but it was the Falcons who delivered the winning field goal in what ended up a tight 16-13 contest.

The Bucs are currently second place in the division at 3-3 and are still in the mix at +320 to win it, but the Saints still have better odds even though they lost to the Bucs in Week 4.

The Saints had been the preseason favorites to win the NFC South and were the sole favorite until after Week 4 in which the Bucs joined them as co-favorites.

The Saints regained control as the favorite after shutting out the Patriots in Week 5, but they’ve yet to win a game since and now see their odds longer than they’ve been all season.

The oddsmakers at Caesars also adjusted the Saints Super Bowl odds, as they went from +5000 to win it all to +6000, with the Falcons also at +6000 after being at +8000 last week.

The Bucs are a much longer shot to win the Super Bowl at +10000, with the 0-6 Panthers essentially unbettable at +100000 to win it all and plus +10000 to win the NFC South.

The Saints are set to take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8 and are currently 1-point road underdogs, with the Falcons opening as two-point road favorites this week against the Tennessee Titans.

The Bucs are currently 8.5-point road dogs in a Thursday Night Football contest against the Buffalo Bills, and the Panthers are three-point home dogs this Sunday against the Houston Texans.
