NHL parlay picks Dec. 2: Bet on Canucks to beat Flames

Three picks stand out on a loaded, 13-game NHL slate.

The pregame narrative: The New York Rangers hold a significant goaltending edge over the Nashville Predators and are a solid moneyline pick. Goals will be hard to come by when the New York Islanders visit the Florida Panthers. Lastly, the Vancouver Canucks are live to win as underdogs against the Calgary Flames.

NHL parlay picks

Parlay: Rangers moneyline + Islanders vs. Panthers under 6.5 goals + Canucks moneyline (+515)

Rangers moneyline (-141): Nashville was enjoying a six-game winning streak before getting routed by the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.

The Predators lost 6-1, ceding three first-period goals in the loss. They received competent goaltending during their winning stretch but that hasn't been the norm.

The Preds rank 21st in team save percentage (.892) per Natural Stat Trick. That's significantly lower than the Rangers, who are third (.918) in the category.

New York is also averaging slightly more goals per game (3.29) than Nashville (3.23), which is why the road team is the right one to back.

Other parlay picks

Islanders vs. Panthers under 6.5 goals (-137): Most fans and bettors wouldn't know it, but this is a matchup of underperforming offences.

The Panthers have plenty of offensive star power but they haven't been producing. They rank 21st in goals per game (3.00) and have scored one goal or fewer in three of their last five.

Turning it around against New York will be a tough task. The team boasts the seventh-best save percentage (.912) in the NHL.

The Islanders are even worse, placing 28th in goals per game (2.73). Their offence is playing better as of late, but this is a unit that has historically struggled to score.

Finding the back of the net will be difficult against Florida. The squad has the 10th-best save percentage (.910) in the league.

Canucks moneyline (+108): Calgary is favoured in this game which makes Vancouver a quality underdog choice.

The Flames are playing better with wins in three of their last four, but there are still flaws to be concerned about. Goaltending is an issue as they rank 24th (.888) in team save percentage.

Their offence isn't firing on all cylinders, either. Calgary sits 23rd in goals per game (2.96) this year.

Vancouver has cooled off a bit after a red-hot start to the campaign, but it still profiles as the better team. The Canucks are fifth in team save percentage (.917) and second in goals per game (3.83).
