NY Rangers vs. Columbus Blue Jackets odds, picks and predictions

The New York Rangers (43-20-10) face the Columbus Blue Jackets (23-42-7) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

Trailing 2-0 to the Florida Panthers on Saturday night, the Rangers scored four unanswered goals in a 4-3 victory.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets surrendered eight or more goals for the second time this season in a 8-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

Here are my picks and predictions for this Metropolitan Division game with odds powered by Tipico Sportsbook.

Rangers vs. Blue Jackets Puck line: Rangers -1.5 (-160)

Despite the price of paying nearly two dollars at -160, lay the juice for the Rangers to win this one by two or more goals.

The last three matchups for New York have been one-score affairs against likely playoff-bound teams, but prior to that they won four straight games at MSG by multiple goals.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets' past five losses have all been by two or more goals, as well as in eight of their last 10 overall.

A trend has to break here, and I'm all-in on betting for the Rangers to cover the puck line even at the -160 price.

Rangers vs. Blue Jackets total: Over 6.5 goals (-122)

If you're unsure of what side to wager on, take the over in this one and don't think twice about it.

This total has gone over in 11 of the previous 12 games for Columbus and for the Rangers in four of their past five home games.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Rangers nearly hit this total themselves as the Blue Jackets have the second-worst defense in the NHL, surrendering nearly four goals per game. Wager on there being at least seven goals Tuesday night.

Rangers vs. Blue Jackets money line: Rangers (-400)

Not surprisingly, there's no real value betting on the Blueshirts to win this game as you'd have to wager $40 to net only $10.

Some value plays on Tipico Sportsbook to place a wager on in regulation would be the Rangers over 4.5 goals (+116), Blue Jackets under 2.5 goals (-160) and Rangers to win and over 5.5 goals at -105.

The Rangers should have no issues on home ice against a lowly Columbus team that comes into this one tied for the fewest points in the NHL (53).

My Best Bets

Place a wager on Rangers as a heavy favorite (-400), to cover the -1.5 puck line (-160) and the over 6.5 goals at -122 on Tipico Sportsbook.
