Alabama opened SEC play with a convincing 24-10 victory over Ole Miss, and now a matchup vs. Mississippi State in Starkville is on deck.

Lane Kiffin had a golden opportunity to finally take down Nick Saban and the Tide, but Alabama squashed those hopes by limiting an Ole Miss offense that had been scoring 52 points per game to just 10 points. Jaxson Dart threw seven touchdowns in the Rebels’ opening three games but was held scoreless through the air at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama’s defense now prepares for a Mississippi State offense that is run-heavy. Jo’Quavious Marks’ 63 carries and 352 yards each rank second-highest in the SEC.

The Crimson Tide struggled to slow down Texas’ RBs, as the Longhorns scampered for 105 yards. But vs. Ole Miss, Alabama had a much stronger showing, allowing just 56 yards.

The key to an Alabama victory is forcing the Bulldogs to lean on Will Rogers. Outside of last week’s game vs. South Carolina, Rogers failed to surpass 200 passing yards against power-five foes.

Saban said in the preseason that Alabama would return to a physical, run-first offense, and that’s what led to a victory vs. Ole Miss. Jase McClellan ran for 105 of the Tide’s 131 yards, opening things up for Jalen Milroe’s 225 passing yards.

Expect the same game plan against the Bulldogs, helping the Tide control the game and keeping the Bulldogs’ offense off the field. If Bama can stimy Mississippi State’s rushers, Rogers will be forced to step up, which could result in a low-scoring output for the home team.

Dallas Turner has been unstoppable for the Tide in the last two games, recording 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Milroe was sharp against Ole Miss, completing 80% of his throws. But the interception bug bit once again, as accuracy is still a concern with the 20-year-old.

Jalen’s three interceptions are tied for third-most in the SEC. He had two picks against the Longhorns before his giveaway vs. Ole Miss.

When Alabama is in the redzone on Saturday, the Tide will likely try keeping it on the ground to avoid costly turnovers.
