The Liberty Flames boast the nation’s third-best offense, having tallied 6,694 yards and an eye-popping 70 offensive touchdowns. Quarterback Kaidon Salter, a former four-star recruit, was responsible for 40 touchdowns during the regular season, and has true dual-threat ability under center.
Liberty has not faced a team like Oregon, however. In its 13 wins on the season, none of them were against Power 5 teams – and the Ducks and its quarterback Bo Nix will present a unique set of problems for the Flames.
Nix is responsible for 43 scores of his own, and helms an Oregon offense that has amassed 6,846 total yards of offense on the year, and notched 76 offensive touchdowns. Nix completed 336 of 435 passes on the season, and threw for 40 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
The Fiesta Bowl will be a matchup of firepower against firepower, and the Ducks’ skill on each side of the ball will be unlike anything the Flames have met this season. Oregon’s defense only allows 97 rushing yards a game, and it will need to muster every bit of mettle to fend off Liberty’s running attack which is averaging 302 yards a game in 2023.
While Liberty is an up-and-coming program in Conference USA, covering a 16.5-point spread against Oregon will prove too much in the Fiesta Bowl.
