Orioles vs. Blue Jays prediction: MLB picks, odds, best bets

They probably win the AL East, but I am worried about the Baltimore Orioles.

Most of their starting and relief pitchers are reaching career highs in innings pitched.

Kyle Bradish and Dean Kremer have already eclipsed their previous career highs in innings pitched (though both are young, it’s still worth mentioning). Kyle Gibson is just 30 innings away.

The O’s had to scratch starting pitcher Jack Flaherty last minute on Wednesday, forcing Kremer to pitch a day ahead of schedule.

Shutdown relievers Yennier Cano and Felix Bautista have looked more fatigued in recent weeks.

The deadline addition of Shintaro Fujinami isn’t helping their middle relief corps — he has a 5.79 ERA in 14 appearances with the Orioles.

I think Baltimore is a tad overvalued right now because they’re so overextended. The lineup is hitting, but you need quality pitching depth to survive in the dog days of August and September.

So, I’ll be looking to bet against the O’s more down the stretch. That starts on Thursday in their matchup with Toronto.

Bo Bichette returned from a knee injury last Saturday, instantly boosting Toronto’s lineup. He’s 5-for-18 with a triple and a homer since returning.

Thursday’s starting pitcher, Jose Berrios, is mercurial. But he’s pitching well lately, boasting a 2.60 ERA over his past eight starts.

Meanwhile, the Toronto bullpen has been lights out, boasting a 1.60 ERA and a .92 WHIP over the past two weeks.
