The Ottawa Senators face the Philadelphia Flyers with both teams heading in opposite directions this season. The Senators have a 16-24-1 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games, they have the worst record in the Atlantic Division. The Flyers have a 25-15-6 record and have the second-best record in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams are looking to bounce back from rough losses and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

Senators defense has let them down

The Senators are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.40 goals per game. Tim Stutzle, Claude Giroux, and Brady Tkachuk have scored 40 goals and 75 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Drake Batherson, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Joshua Norris have combined for 39 goals and 44 assists while defensemen Jakob Chychrun and Jake Sanderson have added 13 goals and 36 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.73 goals per game with 10 goals in the last three games. Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub have combined for 2.9 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Mads Sogaard has struggled with a .818 save percentage and a 6.09 goals-against average on 33 shots.

Flyers are led by a great defense

The Flyers are having a great season despite their offense struggling, scoring only 2.91 goals per game. Travis Konecny and Joel Farabee have scored 36 goals and 39 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only five skaters have nine goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The Senators look to bounce back from a rough loss but the Flyers are having a great season and look to take over this game from the first period. The Flyers should pile on the goals against the Senators, who allow 3.73 goals per game, with Travis Konecny, Joel Farabee, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes. The Flyers, who allow only 2.64 goals per game, should limit the Senators' offense with Sean Walker, Nick Seeler, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Carter Hart to make plenty of big saves. The Flyers should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice.

Take the Flyers money line as home Favorites.

Prediction: Flyers (-130)

Rating:

The Flyers are led by their defenses and both defensive units look to step up and take over this one. The Senators should limit a Flyers offense that averages only 2.91 goals per game with Jake Sanderson, Artem Zub, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Mads Sogaard to make plenty of big saves. The Flyers, who have only allowed 10 goals in their last four games, should eliminate the Senators' offense with Sean Walker, Nick Seeler, Cameron York, and the rest of the defensive unit forcing turnovers in the neutral zone and defensive zone while goaltender Carter Hart blanks the shots on the net. The Under should cover in a low-scoring game with both defenses stepping up.

Take the Under on 6.5 goals.

Prediction: Under 6.5
