PGA DFS Tournament Blog: Farmers Insurance Open Data Insights & Showdown Updates

My goal with this blog is to touch on various key data or course insights that I find valuable, and hopefully will aid in your process to help polish up your player pool, or perhaps even re-evaluate your process for the given week.

As we know with PGADFS (and golf in general), every course and sometimes every round/day can play differently. This nuance makes PGADFS both fun and also tricky to come to a simplified approach each week. I will use this blog to help steer through the fluff and focus on the most impactful data for each week. Check back throughout the tournament as I drop some interesting Showdown data nuggets that will help build your teams for the next day.

Friday, January 27th, 9:30 AM ET: Third Round Showdown Plays

Pretty fun cut sweat yesterday with such strong winds and several chalky plays hanging around the cut line. Ultimately Rahm snuck inside the cut and is now in position to possibly win. Finau was also someone I was watching and was happy to see him birdie his last to sneak inside the cut.

For Round 3, we do have data for all players from the South course but it’s still useless in my opinion due to the weather yesterday.

Let’s discuss, the top plays for Round 3.

Rahm should be one of the chalkier plays and it’s a scary fade but I think for today it’s the right move.

Taylor Montgomery continues to really impress and at only 9900 he has as low a round as anyone including Rahm. He is a great piece to start with.

Si Woo Kim is playing some great golf so will be including him as a core play. Day, Mcnealy, Bradley and Sungjae Im round out the top plays from this range.

As we go down, it’s a little tougher to avoid the chalkier names but I will stick with:
Detry
Rai
Shelton
Taylor Moore

And last note, Ryder is a fade today. Will see what happens going into tomorrow. Best of luck.

Thursday, January 26th, 8:30 AM ET: Second Round Showdown Plays

Welcome back everyone. We are still in the “Course Rotation” part of the schedule so, unfortunately, content from a data perspective will be light. Today’s showdown is pretty simple though. Play the North Course and play early guys. Basically, there is some significant wind heading towards this area and will wreak havoc on both courses, but it will dramatically impact the South Course due to its length. Focus on the North Course and look to stack as many earlier in the day as well.

To Simplify the process I included the North Course Players that are worth considering:

THOMASJUSTIN
FINAUTONY
NOVAKANDREW
SHELTONROBBY
MONTGOMERYTAYLOR
GRIFFINBEN
ZECHENGMARTYDOU
BRADLEYKEEGAN
IM SUNGJAE
FRITTELLIDYLAN
