Polanco, Buxton Among Twins Readying for Return From Injured List
The Minnesota Twins are 5 games behind the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central division and 8.5 games back of Seattle. They are one more misstep away from falling out of the MLB playoff race. Carlos Correa and the Houston Astros beat Kansas City last night. The Twins need to win two more games against a bad Royals team on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, they start a 5-game weekend series against division leader, Cleveland.
Polanco and Buxton are expected to return from the injured list soon. The Twins are looking for a middle-of-the-order bat. Tyler Mahle is not ready to start yet, but he could be back in late September or early October. Bailey Ober will be available any day. Trevor Larnach has kicked off a rehab stint. Ryan Jeffers has started a rehabilitation assignment.
Polanco and Buxton are expected to return from the injured list this week. Buck is not ready to play yet. He needs to ramp up baseball activities. Darren Wolfson reports that Buxon is progressing. The Twins won't put him out there at 50% so he's not sure if he can play vs Cleveland.
Byron Buxton is not 100% but he's chomping at the bit to return. If the Minnesota Twins beat Kansas City, Buxon might call the league to activate himself.
