Number of promoted teams to be relegated – 2023-24

bet365’s number of promoted teams to be relegated market closes before the opening game of the season begins – Burnley vs Manchester City – on Friday August 11 at 8pm.

For your punt to be paid out, the exact number of promoted sides you have backed for relegation – zero, one, two or three – has to come good at the end of the season.

Where could the value lie in this market?

The biggest price in this market is for no promoted teams to get relegated at 18/1.

Last season, Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth all managed to stay up. But that was the first time all three promoted teams beat the drop since the 2017-18 campaign.

With Luton Town, Sheffield United and Burnley all coming up this year, it is not unwise to presume that at least one will go down.

The Clarets were promoted as champions after boss Vincent Kompany overhauled the team’s style of play and led them to one of the most impressive Championship campaigns in recent history.

Burnley have also invested heavily into their squad so we expect them to stay up.

That leaves Luton and Sheffield United, whose recruitment has been markedly less glamorous than that at Turf Moor.

The Hatters, after being promoted via the play-offs, are the favourites for relegation and we expect them to go down because of their lack of spending on new recruits.

The price for just one team to be relegated is 11/8 while for two to go down is 11/10. However, we think that is where the smart money is as the Blades have also failed to bolster their squad sufficiently.
