Premier League Predictions 2023/24: Gameweek 4 Picks I BettingOdds.com

The Premier League returns with five televised matches for our weekly predictions piece, starting on Friday night when Luton host their first home game against West Ham.

We'll be taking a look at all five fixtures and offering out thoughts on the games.

  • Friday 1st September, Sky Sports Main Event, 8pm

Seven points from their opening three matches, West Ham United can continue their sparkling start to the season with a third league win from four as they can get the better of Luton Town, who have lost their opening two matches since their promotion to the Premier League. With top-flight football returning to Kenilworth Road, Luton fans will be flying in the stands, but the Hammers should have far too much quality for their lowly adversaries and David Moyes's side can edge past their hosts with a 2-1 win.

Prediction: Luton 1-2 West Ham United

  • Saturday 2nd September, Sky Sports Main Event, 12:30pm

Sheffield United face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime with both sides yet to secure any points after three matches played. It could be a little too early to call this one a relegation six-pointer, but there is no denying that three points here would be massive for both clubs.

Sheffield United executed their game-plan very well against Manchester City, keeping the score to within a one goal margin and then getting on the front-foot in the last 15 minutes to try and grab something from the game. The Blades were unlucky not to collect a point in the end, but will be buoyed by their performance as they look to try and bring in a few more bodies before the end of the transfer window this week.

Things look rather worrying for Everton at the moment but one positive they can take is that they have been creating plenty of chances despite their negative results. Only five sides in the Premier League have recorded more shots on target this season with 18, however I’m struggling to split this pair who both look destined for a relegation battle with a relatively low scoring contest expected.

Prediction: Sheffield United 1-1 Everton

  • Saturday 2nd September, Sky Sports Main Event, 5:30pm

Two teams to be excited about as they performed exceedingly well last season, however, they each suffered mixed results last week, losing their fixtures and there will be bruised egos among both camps.

However, it's Brighton that has had the better start, scoring 9 goals from three games putting them at the top end of the table.

Head-to-head Newcastle were the 4-1 winners last time out in May 2023, and Brighton have not beaten Newcastle since 2021. With that in mind, I’m inclined to go for the draw, but there will be goals (unlike their four 0-0 clashes since 2017).

Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Newcastle

  • Sunday 3rd September, Sky Sports Main Event, 12:30pm

Those three points picked up in a tight 1-0 win over Everton could prove instrumental to Wolves' survival at the end of the season. Next they face the difficult trip to Selhurst Park against a Crystal Palace side who bounced back from a narrow defeat to last season's runners-up Arsenal with a handy point on their travels at Brentford. Roy Hodgson's side won't blow away many teams this term, but they also won't ship an awful lot of goals either. Wolves' goal scoring issue will rear its ugly head once again in this fixture on Saturday.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-0 Wolves

  • Sunday 3rd September, Sky Sports Main Event, 5:30pm

Both these two teams have had pretty similar starts to the season with only one point separating the two. On one hand Man Utd were incredibly disappointing against Tottenham and on the other hand, Arsenal failed to capitalise against 10-man Fulham at the Emirates and dropped two points. I don't think we've seen the best of either of these sides and that makes this a much more 50/50 game than the odds suggest in my opinion. Unfortunately though for Manchester United fans they come into this one with a plethora of injuries and that could very well be their downfall.

If Manchester United had a full squad I'd be more in their favour but with their suspect record at The Emirates and not having Shaw and Varane available, I'm leaning more towards Arsenal here. I expect Man Utd to show up here and get themselves on the scoresheet but I don't think their makeshift defence is going to be enough from stopping Arsenal racking up the goals.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Manchester United
