We’re hurtling towards the business end of the 2023/24 Premier League season now and we’re gearing up for a slightly truncated top-flight weekend with the League Cup final taking place between Liverpool and Chelsea on Sunday. Lawro’s got the special white linen suit back from the dry cleaners so make sure you check out his Carabao Cup Final Bet Builder quick-fast.

There’s no early game on the box on Saturday but we’re treated to double delight in the evening with Bournemouth v Manchester City before Arsenal v Newcastle at 8pm. We’ve just the one game on Sunday with most eyes on Wembley but Wolves and Sheffield United will definitely happen before another Monday Night Football green-screen spectacular features West Ham v Brentford as the main sideshow.

So, with so much action to get stuck in to, it’s only right that we bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson who’s champing at the bit to two-foot a full weekend’s top-flight action.

Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest both had good wins at the weekend but I’m going to go for the home side to win this. I think they’re over their little blip and, even though they’re missing a couple of players, I think they’ll be too strong for Forest. Aston Villa 2-0 Nottingham Forest.

Brighton had an easy win at Sheffield United and I fancy them to win again here. It’s about time they won back-to-back games. Everton got a last-minute equaliser at Crystal Palace but they’re not great at the moment. Brighton 2-0 Everton.

I’m going for the old classic, the new manager bounce. Everybody will be trying a leg and Burnley, I don’t know what you can say about them. They don’t help themselves but that’s the way it goes when you’re down at the bottom. Crystal Palace 2-1 Burnley.

I’ve spoken about Manchester United’s front three before and they’ve become a real handful as a trio who create and score. Fulham lost to Aston Villa last time so I fancy a handsome Manchester United win. Manchester United 3-0 Fulham.

I’ll go for a comfortable Manchester City win here. Everyone said they were a bit fortunate in the week against Brentford but they just get he job done. They just prove that you don’t always have to play spectacular football to win matches. Bournemouth 0-2 Manchester City.

Newcastle haven’t got a striker at the moment so I’ll go for an easy Arsenal win. They’ll be winning the league again then! Arsenal 3-0 Newcastle.

TV: Sky Sports Premier League

Wolves have been great to watch recently and I thought they were good value for money against Tottenham. Sheffield Untied, well, I love the fact that their captain came out and said that wasn’t a bad tackle – that would have been a bad tackle in the ’80s! I feel a bit sorry for Chris Wilder because there’s nothing he can do about their fate. Wolves 2-0 Sheffield United.

I think the West Ham fans are getting a bit restless with the style of play rather than the results. That’s what you get with David Moyes and, if you were to get someone else in, who would you get? You’d probably get David Moyes in! He’s rode many storms before but I’ll go for a draw here. West Ham 1-1 Brentford.
