Rangers’ trade for starter Jake Odorizzi could offer stability for both player and club

Jake Odorizzi was traded to the Rangers from the Atlanta Braves. He was expected to opt out of his contract, but the Braves waited a day and traded him to cut their net obligation by $2.5 million. The Rangers will find out Tuesday if Martín Pérez accepts the $19.65 million qualifying offer one-year contract.  Odorizzo has played on five teams that each ended up in the playoffs over the last four seasons. His injuries limited him the past two years. They include an ankle injury and a sprained tendons in his ankle. It is the deadline for Martin Perez to accept the qualifying contract one year.
