Raptors same-game parlay predictions vs. Timberwolves Oct. 25: Bet on Edwards to score but Toronto to cover

A new Toronto Raptors season begins tonight at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The pregame narrative: Toronto has fared really well against Minnesota in recent seasons, and we're backing the Raps to cover an alt spread at Scotiabank Arena tonight. We also like one prop each for Anthony Edwards and Jakob Poeltl.

NBA oddsas of 10:50 a.m. on 10/25/2023.

Same-game parlay Raptors predictions

Parlay: Raptors +5.5 + Edwards over 22.5 points + Poeltl over 8.5 rebounds (+285)

Raptors +5.5 (-215): Toronto and Minnesota only play twice a year, so it's not like we have a high volume of recent matchups to draw upon for an ATS pick. But spanning back several seasons, this head-to-head battle has fallen Toronto's way.

The Raptors are 8-2 against the Timberwolves since the 2018-19 season, and they've won at home in this matchup in back-to-back years. Toronto's two losses in that 10-game span came by four or fewer points, so this is a number the team has covered every time.

Aside from losing Fred VanVleet, the main pieces in Toronto are the same. And this is a group that went 25-16-1 ATS at home last year, which was the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Other parlay picks

Edwards over 22.5 points (-190): Edwards has taken significant strides through each of his three NBA seasons, and a lot of that has to do with his scoring touch.

The former No. 1 overall pick earned his first all-star selection last season on his way to averaging 24.6 points per game. He scored over 22.5 points in 55 of 84 games a season ago (65.5%) across the regular season and playoffs.

In the summer, Edwards starred as the leading scorer on Team USA at the FIBA World Cup. His high-volume shooting and improved efficiency beyond the arc make him a legitimate threat on a nightly basis.

Poeltl over 8.5 rebounds (-106): Worried about Poeltl's rebounding chances against former rebound champ Rudy Gobert? Don't be.

Poeltl faced Gobert and the T-Wolves four times last season (three with the Spurs, one with the Raptors), and he notched double-digit rebounds in each of those games.

In his 25 games as a starter with the Raptors in 2022-23, the 7-foot-1 centre averaged 9.3 boards and cleared this 8.5 mark 17 times.
