Rays vs. Orioles prediction: MLB odds, picks, best bets

The Orioles and Rays continue their battle for first place in the AL East when they cap off their four-game series Sunday.

On the mound for the O’s will be Tyler Wells (7-5, 3.54 ERA), with the Rays looking to youngster Taj Bradley (5-6, 5.29 ERA).

Wells is coming off a rough outing against the Dodgers, in which he allowed five runs over just two innings.

That start hasn’t been the norm for Wells this season, though.

In his prior nine outings, he gave up two runs or fewer seven times.

Rays vs. Orioles pick

(1:40 p.m. ET)

One of the two times he didn’t, however, came against the Rays, when Wells allowed four runs in a 7-2 Tampa Bay win June 21.

The Rays have lost Bradley’s past four starts, with the young righty giving up 18 runs over 17 ¹/₃ innings during that span.

A positive for Bradley entering this matchup is, one of his best performances this season came against Baltimore.

He held the Birds to only one run in the same June 21 game.

I don’t expect Bradley to be as dominant now that Baltimore has already faced the 22-year-old.

Betting on Baseball?

Another thing to note is the bullpens could be spent in the fourth game of a crucial series, so both starters will need to eat up some innings.

That will be a challenge for Bradley, who has gone six innings just once in 14 starts.

The Orioles had won four of six from the Rays heading into Saturday. I like Baltimore to continue that recent success and take the series finale.
