Red Sox roster analysis: Rotation in flux with Nate Eovaldi, Michael Wacha hitting free agency

The Red Sox have a lot of questions regarding their starting five. Nick Pivetta, Brayan Bello and Chris Sale are the only two locks. Tanner Houck and Garrett Whitlock had season-ending surgeries last year. Their usage will play a role in the 2023 rotation.  Chaim Bloom wants the pitchers to go into spring training knowing their roles.

The Red Sox have a lot of options for a new starting pitcher. The team is in flux and the decision regarding Paxton, Wacha, Eovaldi, Hill and Paillard will be key. The farm system is filled with position players. Boston has a number of young pitchers who have the potential to be good. They have some uncertainty in their rotation. It will all depend on the decisions regarding the players who are under contract for 2023. Red SO's are going to make a decision soon. If they do, it will depend how they handle their starting rotation after the World Series. There are many players that could play in the rotation, including Sale, Whitlock, Houck and Hill.
