The Chicago White Sox and the San Diego Padres meet Saturday in MLB action from Petco Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. In the Friday opener, Chicago managed a two-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago played the Twins in their last series this week, losing two of three games. In the Friday opener versus San Diego, the White Sox bagged two runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 3-1 win. Starting pitcher Davis Martin finished with 5.2 innings, one earned, six hits and eight Ks.

For the starter job in the Saturday game the Sox are sending out Dylan Cease. In 31 starts this year Cease is 14-7 with a 2.06 ERA. In 179.0 innings he has 222 Ks.

Over on the Padres’ side, they took on the Dodgers this week and also lost two of three games. In the Friday matchup San Diego gave up eight hits in the loss. Yu Darvish managed 6.0 innings in the start with three earned, eight hits and a walk.

As starter for the Padres on Saturday, it’ll be Mike Clevinger. Over 22 games (21 starts), Clevinger is 6-7 with a 4.49 ERA. In 108.1 innings total he has 54 earned on 99 hits and 35 walks with 88 Ks.

The Sox are 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games and 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series. The over is 4-1 in Chicago’s last five Saturday games.

Meanwhile, the Padres are 2-5 in their last seven interleague home games and the under is 11-4 in their last 15 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Chicago. Cease is having quite the year, but it’s been a while since he’s recorded a win. Cease is 0-1 in his last three games with four earned in a combined 17.0 innings on 14 hits and eight walks. As for Clevinger, he’s been quite spotty lately and is coming off five earned on eight hits and a walk in 4.0 frames during a no-decision at Coors Field. Clevinger should be fine here, but Chicago probably has a solid shot with Cease on the mound.
