Rivalry week should bring SEC bowl forecast into clear focus NCAAF
It's rivalry week for most of the Southeastern Conference. Thirteen of 14 SEC teams are eyeing various levels of postseason play. Auburn, Missouri and Vanderbilt need upset victories to become bowl eligible. South Carolina stunned Tennessee, Arkansas shocked Ole Miss and Vandy upset Kentucky and Florida for consecutive SEC wins for the first time in four years.
Rivalry week brings the NCAAF bowl forecast into focus. The defending national champion Bulldogs are unlikely to make it to the College Football Playoff. Sixth-ranked Tigers would make a strong case for the CFP with wins at Texas A&M and against Georgia in Atlanta. Eighth- ranked Crimson Tide needs a few upsets to sneak into the playoff for eighth time in nine years.
Rebels are in a pool for the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Florida. Bulldogs are likely to be in the Gator Bowl pool. The Gamecocks are interested in going to the Florida Gators Bowl. Razorbacks should expect to go to Texas or Vegas. Wildcats haven't been to Liberty Bowl since 2009. Tigers are 22 1/2-point underdogs in their game against Alabama. Vandy is trying to get to a bowl for first time since 2018.
