Sam F. Davis Stakes Predictions, Odds, Picks (Tampa Bay Downs)

Classic Causeway is looking to start his three-year-old season with his first stakes victory in Saturday's $250,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. He won his debut at Saratoga in September and finished third in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland and second in Kentucky Jockey club. Howling Time was trained by Dale Romans and won in his Street Sense Stake.

The morning line favorite is Classic Causeway. Irad Ortiz, Jr. is the top pick. He will ride Classic causeway in the Sam F. Davis Stakes. The winner will be trained by Javier Castellano.

Make It Big won three starts as a juvenile. He has already shown the ability to pass horses. Top rider Jose Ortiz will be in the saddle. I like the favorite the best.

Howling Time finished fifth in the Kentucky Jockey Club. He is trained by Dale Romans. He will try to improve on that performance. The race starts at 5:00 on Saturday.

Strike Hard finished second to Simplification in the Mucho Macho Man and to White Abarrio in a previous allowance race. He has a good tactical speed and could sit a stalking trip in this 8 ½ furlong affair.

God of Love is making his first career start on dirt on Saturday in the Sam F. Davis Stakes. He is already a stakes winner on both turf and synthetic surfaces. All of his starts to date have come at Woodbine.

Shipsational is a two-time stakes winner. He has three wins from four career starts. Last time he won the Sleepy Hollow at Belmont Park. This is his first start in 3 ½ months.

Golden Glider is undefeated in two starts. Sam F. Davis Stakes takes place at Tampa Bay Downs. He is eligible to improve but needs to show more than he did in his first race over the track.

Trademark is a son of Upstart. He is going to make his stakes debut at the Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. He has two wins at distance and is good value against horses with stakes experience.

Volcanic won a maiden race last month at Gulfstream Park. He had both first time blinkers and Lasix in the last and showed more speed than before.

Kitten Mischief has only won once in two career starts. He is out of a multiple graded stakes winning mare named Kitten’s Point. With speed in front of him here, I think he is a live long shot to come rallying up for a piece.

Unpredictable Bay broke his maiden in his seventh career start. He has shown enough early speed to be involved early in the race, but he's unlikely to pose a threat in late.

Mr Rum Runner has been good in his five career starts, but he's not a deserving long shot. Last time he finished third in the Mucho Macho Mango Man Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Little Vic won his debut race. He is not in the main draw and will only run if there is a scratch. If he gets in, he will bring plenty of speed to the Sam F. Davis Stakes.
