The richest race in the world, the Group 1 Saudi Cup, takes place at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh on Saturday (4.40pm GMT). 

A field of 14 runners from across the globe will be chasing a first prize of £7.875 million, and the 10/3 favourite is the American horse White Abarrio, who won the Breeders’ Cup Classic last year.

The Japan-trained four-year-old Derma Sotogake finished second behind White Abarrio in that race at Santa Anita and is 6/1 to win the first rematch between the pair.

Sandwiched between the two in the betting is Derma Sotogake’s compatriot Lemon Pop at 9/2, with National Treasure and Ushba Tesoro completing the top five in the Saudi Cup betting at 12/1 each.
