Second Winx Stakes success within reach for Mo'unga

Mo'unga had a barrier trial mishap. Tommy Berry is expecting a different Mo'unga on race day. Mo’unja and Tommy are going to face a star-studded field for the Group 1 $750,000 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Mo'unga won the Winx Stakes at Randwick last year. Berry is more satisfied with his horse going into Saturday's race.  

Mo’unga is among nine Group 1 winners nominated for the Winx Stakes. Anamoe is the $2.50 favourite to score his fourth Group One win. Godolphin trainer James Cummings has a strong hand with Anamiro and Cascadian. Rachel King is new rider of talented mare Forbidden Love. Duais is early favourite for Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

Mo'unga is on the third line of TAB Fixed Odds betting at $6 in his attempt to go back-to-back in the Winx Stakes. Berry is partnering Russian Conquest in Group 2 $250,000 Silver Shadow Stake and mare Jamaea in $200,00 Toy Show Quality Staking. The weather is expected to be good for Saturday's race.
