Sydney Group 1 futures bets: $51 Golden Rose tip

Spring racing in Sydney is upon us as Group 1 racing kicks off this Saturday with the Winx Stakes at Randwick and there is plenty of fun to be had in the futures markets.

Here's a handful of futures bets to ride throughout the carnival.

Golden Rose – Zardozi ($51)

Godolphin has a cracking record in this race and this filly has a bit of x-factor about her having won all three starts. Like Group 1 J.J Atkins winner King Colorado, she's by northern hemisphere sire Kingman and her latest trial, while finishing only eighth, was good when hitting the line under a strong hold to indicate she's back in form. History suggests some of the late blooming two-year-olds thrive in the race and Zardozi could be the one in 2023. She's also an $11 chance in betting for the Flight Stakes.

The Metropolitan – Star Of India ($26)

Forgotten horse that hasn't been seen since winning the Rosehill Gold Cup at his Australian debut, beating the likes of Hezashocka. He did a tendon in his pre-training earlier this year but is now back in work and gearing up for the spring. The Metrop looks right up his alley if he can return in the form we saw at the back end of last spring.
