This is the best bet to make on Michigan vs. Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game

I’m Ben Fawkes and welcome to the fourth week of my sports betting mailbag. I’ve been in the sports betting industry since 2010, and have learned a thing or two about gambling over the last decade.

I look forward to answering your sports betting questions about this week’s games. Feel free to DM me at @BFawkes22 on X to submit a question. I hope you enjoyed last week’s mailbag.

It’s an odd-looking line and total, Mike. The total of 35 is the lowest one in the history of college football conference championship games, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. But Iowa has been an UNDER machine all season, going 10-2 to the UNDER (including seven straight games), despite 10 of their 12 games having totals in the 30s or lower.

Iowa has set the record multiple times this season for the lowest total in a game in college football history (or at least since 1995 when totals were regularly tracked), and in all of those instances, the game has still stayed UNDER.

Right now, the public does seem to feel the number is a little low, as 78% of bets and 71% of the total dollars wagered at DraftKings are on the Michigan-Iowa OVER 35. Iowa’s first-half and second-half total points scored prop at DraftKings were both 0.5 points, so sportsbooks aren’t counting on a whole lot of scoring from the Hawkeyes.

Want to bet on the over (or the under) on the Michigan-Iowa game? You can make a new account at DraftKings and get $150 with just a $5 first-time bet at the sportsbook.
