How to make money betting on the Pistons’ dreadful season

I’m Ben Fawkes and welcome back to week six of my sports betting mailbag.

I’ve been in the sports betting industry since 2010, and over the last decade, I’ve won more than I’ve lost, but have learned even more along the way.

The inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament finals are approaching, so it’s the perfect time to dive into exciting topics from around the NBA betting world.

Feel free to DM me at @BFawkes22 on X to submit a question. I hope you enjoyed last week’s mailbag where I analyzed betting trends from this NFL season.

They have certainly had a rough start to the season, Carl. The Pistons are an NBA-worst 2-19 and have lost a nearly unfathomable 18 straight game, heading into Friday’s game. They didn’t win a single game in November and are also only 8-12-1 against the spread.

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is one single way to maximize your profit with the Pistons. You will get some juicy moneyline prices betting on them to win every game, but they have to actually win a few games for you to be profitable.

Instead, I would look at backing Detroit to cover in situations where they are on a back-to-back (3-2 ATS) or facing a team that’s on a long road trip. The Pistons are 12-9 on the OVER so far this season, so the combination of a decent offense and bad defense could lead to some more OVERs.

Since Caesars Sportsbook has one of the highest dollar-amount welcome offers, you may want to consider making your first Pistons OVER bet on their site.
