The Oklahoma City Thunder have failed to produce their best basketball on the road, and that’s certainly been felt in a big way throughout the four-game road trip they’re set to end on Saturday.

Will the Thunder fall victim to one of the strongest defenses in the league when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves?

Let's get right into the latest NBA odds with our in-depth preview and NBA picks for Thunder vs. Timberwolves on Saturday, January, 20.

Thunder vs Timberwolves odds

Thunder vs Timberwolves predictions

This has all the makings of a difficult game for the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is a team that has ranked among the best in basketball on both sides of the floor this season, but when it comes to its ability to play on the road, things get a bit more prickly.

The Thunder are a whole six points worse per 100 possessions on the road, thanks to some bad shooting numbers. Now facing a Minnesota Timberwolves side that has been excellent in defending at the rim, I’m not sure how the Thunder will be able to make enough of an impact offensively tonight.

Minnesota ranks first in the NBA when it comes to defending within four feet, and the Thunder reside in the top seven when it comes to shooting frequency down low, so this will be a pretty brutal clash of strengths meeting strengths. With all of that being said, the Thunder are just 20th on the offensive end over the last 10 games and, as we’ve noted already, shoot considerably worse on the road.

The Timberwolves may be a lot like the Thunder in that they love to score in the frontcourt, but they’ve been one of the best 3-point shooting teams by the numbers this season and that’s the one area where Oklahoma City has been lacking on offense.

I expect a defensive battle here, but one that Minnesota should win. Taking the Timberwolves at home — where they’ve been roughly 10 points better per 100 possessions — has been profitable, and we will back that trend to continue.

My best bet: Timberwolves -3 (-110 at FanDuel)

Thunder vs Timberwolves same-game parlay

Timberwolves -3

Anthony Edwards 25+ points

Anthony Edwards 6+ rebounds

While neither of these offenses will be all that exciting to bet on in a game with such a low total, at least one player will shine in this one.

With his ability to knock down shots around the perimeter, Anthony Edwards should be in a fine spot to remain hot. Edwards has reached 25+ points in his last three games, and he went for 25 the last time these two sides met.

The T-Wolves star also recorded seven boards in the lone game he played against the Thunder this season, and he’s averaged over six per contest in the last three. Oklahoma City is one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA, so there should be many to come by for Edwards tonight.

Thunder vs Timberwolves spread and Over/Under analysis

The injury report is more or less clean for both sides, but one player I’m keeping an eye on is Lu Dort. The Thunder wing is questionable for this tilt and would be a huge loss against a dynamic T-Wolves frontcourt.

With that, I think the Under is certainly where I’d head if I were looking for a bet on the total. Neither side here has been particularly good on offense, particularly when you look at the home/road splits, and the dominance that Minnesota has exhibited in these home games has come on the defensive end.

A whopping 80% of the money is on the Under at DraftKings despite 75% of the bets favoring the Over, so there’s certainly some credence here when it comes to betting on a low-scoring affair.
