Tigers vs Orioles Prediction

The Baltimore Orioles will host the Detroit Tigers for game two of their three-game set from Camden Yards on FS1. Baltimore stole game one after late-game heroics in the ninth inning, 2-1.

Tigers Betting Preview

Detroit fell to 7-11 after losing to Baltimore. The Tigers have dropped their last two games, and with their last five being decided by one run, they may be in for another nail biter today. The Detroit offense is scoring 3.02 runs per game, while batting .216, with a .274 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 5.03 ERA, with a 1.30 WHIP. Riley Greene is leading the team in hitting (.247), after recording a hit in seven of the last ten games. Javy Baez is starting to figure things out, and after recording a hit in seven straight games, he’s up to 7 RBI.

Joey Wentz (0-2, 6.39 ERA, 10 Ks) will start for Detroit. The second-year pitcher came through with his best start of the season last week against San Francisco. Wentz struck out seven over 5 ⅔ innings of work, while allowing just one run, but he failed to receive the running support for the winning decision.

Orioles Betting Preview

Baltimore moved to 12-7 after defeating Detroit. The Orioles followed up their DMV sweep of Washington by taking game one from the Tigers, and they’ll look to make it five straight wins here. The Baltimore offense is scoring 5.33 runs per game, while batting .248, with a .343 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 5.03 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Jorge Mateo leads the team in hitting (.362) after recording a hit in four of the last five games. Ryan Mountcastle leads the O’s in RBI (20), with Cedric Mullins right behind him at 15 after a big series versus Chicago.

Kyle Gibson (3-0, 4.18 ERA, 13 Ks) will get the ball for Baltimore. The ten-year pitcher has found a home with the O’s, and he’s delivered through his first four outings. Gibson failed to earn the decision in his latest start versus the White Sox, but he lead the Orioles to wins in his first three appearances, and only allowed one run in 6 ⅓ innings pitched in his lone home start versus Oakland.

Detroit vs Baltimore Trends

Detroit is 10-8 against the spread this season, with a 9-9 over/under record. Baltimore is 10-9 ATS this year, with a 11-7-1 O/U record.

Corey's Free Pick

Baltimore was a revelation last season, and they’re proving early that they can be real threats in the vaunted AL East division this year. Detroit’s gritty approach has turned their last five games into nail biters, and while that may bring fear to the run line, the O’s carry a huge advantage on the mound in this one. Kyle Gibson could become the first four-game winner in the majors, and I think the Orioles get the job here. Back Baltimore with the ML here, with a great chance of them covering as well.
