Timeform big race preview: Kameko big player in Sussex Stakes

Kameko won the Futurity Trophy at Newcastle on his final start last season. He progressed further after seven months off when he won 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in June. Wichita and Pinatubo were second and third at the New market. Kame Ko is rated 128 on Timeform master rating and 135 on weight-adjusted rating.

Siskin was unbeaten in four starts as a two-year-old. He won the Irish 2000 Guineas last time. Siski is short on price. He is owned by Ger Lyons and Colin Keane.

Roger Varian's yard has been in fine form since the resumption of racing. His runner in the Sussex Stakes is San Donato, who is currently the 25/1 outsider of the field. He was making his first appearance after 14 months on the sidelines when second in Summer Mile at Ascot last time.

This year's Sussex Stakes is the first big clash of the generations in the miling division. The top five in betting are all in good form. Favourite Siskin is unbeaten in five starts. Kameko is worth taking on with Kamiko.
