Tottenham manager odds: Pochettino favourite to take over from Conte after weekend rant
Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to become Tottenham’s next manager, with Antonio Conte’s remaining days in the job looking numbered.
The former PSG manager is as short as 3/1 with talkSPORT BET to be reinstated in the Tottenham dugout for the second time, following Conte’s heated press conference after Spurs’ 3-3 draw with Southampton on Saturday.
Tottenham were 3-1 up at relegation threatened Southampton on Saturday before conceding twice in the final 13 minutes to only come away with a point.
The Saints comeback caused something of a rant from Spurs boss Conte in his post-match press conference.
“Tottenham’s story is this – 20 years there is this owner and they never won something. Why?” Conte said.
“The fault is only for the club, or for every manager that stay here? I have seen the managers that Tottenham had on the bench. You risk to disrupt the figure of the manager and to protect the other situation in every moment.
“Until now I try to hide the situation but not now because, I repeat, I don’t want to see what I have seen today because this is unacceptable and also unacceptable for the fans.”
“Not only the club, the manager and the staff. The players have to be involved in this situation because it is time to change this situation if Tottenham want to change,” he said.
“If they want to continue in this way, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Believe me.”
The Italian is now odds on to be the next Premier League manager to leave his role, with former boss Pochettino deemed to be the most likely to take over.
The Argentinian was previously in charge of the north London side for more than five years between 2014 and 2019, and proved to be a largely successful appointment.
Pochettino got the club integrated with the ‘Big Six’ and sealed top four finishes in four of his five full seasons with the club, even achieving a second finish in 2017, the club’s highest league finish since 1963.
His most notable achievement though, was undoubtedly taking the club to their first ever Champions League final in 2019.
The Argentine went spent 18 months in charge of French giants PSG following his departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, winning a league and cup title before leaving last summer.

The former Spurs player, who was forced into an early retirement following fracturing his skull while playing for Hull, was previously in caretaker charge of the club for seven matches back in 2021 following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.
Former Spain and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is another manager without a club at the moment, and has also been linked with the north London club.
The Spaniard left his role as Spain manager after four years in charge following their exit from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 52-year-old spent three trophy-laden years at Camp Nou, winning the Champions League in his first season in charge as well as two further league titles and three consecutive Copa del Reys.
Current Fulham manager Marco Silva is priced at 12/1 to take over at Spurs following his impressive season at Craven Cottage, where he has taken the newly promoted side to a battle for European football in his first season back in the top flight.
Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has the same odds as the Portuguese – the German notably delivered the Blues their second ever Champions League title after only half a season in charge.
