Goals expected in Cardiff

Wales and Turkey meet at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday evening in a match that the hosts have to win if they want to qualify automatically for next summer’s European Championship.

Robert Page’s side no longer have their destiny in their own hands after a 1-1 draw with Armenia on Saturday and they now must win and hope Croatia fail to beat Armenia at home. Failure to achieve that and they will have to qualify through the play-offs for the finals in Germany

The positive news for Wales is that they face a Turkey side who have already qualified and have nothing to play for, which could make for an entertaining encounter.

There have been over 3.5 goals in three of Turkey’s past four matches in all competitions and they beat Germany 3-2 in a friendly in Berlin on Saturday.

Turkey have only kept one clean sheet away from home in qualifying, while Wales have only kept one at home during the same period. The hosts need to get the three points on Tuesday, which should lead to an open game, so we’re backing over 2.5 goals to land.

Wales vs Turkey tip 1: Over 2.5 goals @ 17/20 with Paddy Power

Johnson can take his chance

Brennan Johnson came on after 50 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Armenia and he is expected to start against Turkey.

The forward has been part of a Spurs team who made a flying start to the Premier League season and with their squad riddled by injuries he has featured a lot more in recent weeks.

He scored against Wolves in Spurs’ final league game before the international break and we expect him to feature heavily in this match.

Turkey have failed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last six away matches in all competitions and we’re backing Johnson to get on the scoresheet.

Wales vs Turkey tip 2: Brennan Johnson to score any time @ 11/4 with Paddy Power

Ampadu in for a busy evening

Ethan Ampadu is a key midfielder for club and country. He averages 1.4 fouls per game in qualifying and has committed four fouls in his last two matches for Wales, including three at home to Croatia.

He isn’t shy of making a challenge and has picked up two yellow cards in qualifying. With so much riding on the game for Wales we’re sure he’ll get stuck in again and are opting for him to commit two or more fouls in the match.

Turkey have been fouled on average 11.4 times per game in qualifying, the second-highest in the group.

Wales vs Turkey tip 3: Ethan Ampadu to commit two or more fouls @ 10/11 with Paddy Power
