Week 3 college football picks, best bets

This week is the third week of the college football season. VSiN experts will give their best bets on select games.

Nebraska is a 14-point underdog against Oklahoma. The game is important for the Huskers because they are looking ahead to the upcoming game with Oklahoma and their coach Mickey Joseph. Danny Burke is disappointed with the performance of the team. He thinks the game will be exciting. Danny is also disappointed that Georgia Southern beat Nebraska last week. It was a game that could have been exciting for Danny. His team should be 3-0 right now. This game could be a chance for a reset. Mickey is an intelligent, organized adult who the players love and respect. They will rally around him.

Vanderbilt is on the road to play Northern Illinois. The Commodores beat Hawaii in the first game. Wake Forest dominated them in Week 2. Mike Wright will start for Vandy after being benched for AJ Swann. NorthernIllinois has given up over six yards per play in each of the last two games.

Wazzu came back from Madison, Wisconsin with a win over a Top 25 team. The Cougars have struggled on the offensive line and on defense. Colorado State has struggled as well. They have scored 26 points in two games. They are transitioning to an Air Raid offense.

Will Rogers has started the season well for Mike Leach's Air Raid offense. He has scored nine touchdowns against two interceptions in wins over Memphis and Arizona. Memphis is a solid AAC team and I expected Arizona to take a big leap in Jedd Fisch's second season. LSU is still working out some kinks in Brian Kelly's first year. Mississippi State's passing attack is efficient and will force LSU to keep pace.

Washington is a 3.5-point favorite against Michigan State. The Huskies have already beaten Kent State and Portland State by a combined score of 97-26. Michigan has won over Western Michigan and Akron by 22 and 52 points. Adam Burke is picking Michigan to win. He thinks the line is overreacting. Adam is taking Michigan 2. 5-1. His line would be cheaper than 3-5. Michael Penix Jr. and Payton Thorne are the main threats for the Spartans.

The Terrapins and Mustangs are both in the top 10 in yards per play. SMU is seventh in YPP, while Maryland is in top 7th. The game is a rivalry game between SMu and TCU. TCU has won 17 of the 21 head-to-head meetings. Adam Burke is picking the Terps. He has a -6 line on the game.
