Who Is Rory McIlroy’s Wife?
Rory McIlroy is married to a former PGA of America employee, Erica Stroll, whom he met in 2015. Previously, the Northern Irishman dated professional tennis player Caroline Wozniacki from 2011-14.
McIlroy and Stroll got engaged in December 2015 and married in April 2017 at Ashford Castle in County Mayo, Ireland. Celebrities such as Niall Horan and Chris Martin attended with performances from Stevie Wonder and Ed Sheeran.
In September 2020, McIlroy and Stroll welcomed their first child to the family – Poppy Kennedy McIlroy.
How Did Rory McIlroy Meet His Wife?
The married couple first met at the 2012 Ryder Cup on the Sunday – dubbed the ‘miracle at Medinah’ as Europe won eight of the final day’s singles and fought back from 10-4 down late on Saturday.
McIlroy slept in after mistaking his tee time for 12.25pm instead of 11.25am and required a police escort to the course at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois.
Working for the PGA at the time, Stroll had to wake McIlroy up and ensure he got to the course – arriving ten minutes before his tee time against the USA’s Keegan Bradley.
