Who Will Win The Netflix Cup?

Stars of sports series Full Swing and Formula 1: Drive to Survive will join forces to compete in the first-ever Netflix Cup next week, and one pairing are in pole position on best betting sites

The celebrity golf tournament, Netflix's first live sports event, will see an F1 driver and a pro golfer team up with one another to compete in an eight-hole match.

During the inaugural event, there will be some surprise challenges, and following the eight holes, the top team from each foursome will take on one another in a final hole play-off to decide the winner of the Netflix Cup

The pairings were announced this week, ahead of the live streamed event on November 14, and F1 driver Alex Albon and pro golfer Max Homa are out in front in the market.

The tournament - which is being held at Wynn Golf Club at Wynn Las Vegas, ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 19th - will also see Lando Norris and Rickie Fowler join forces, as will Pierre Gasly and Collin Morikawa, and Carlos Sainz and Justin Thomas.

Netflix Cup Outright Odds

Albon And Homa In The Driving Seat

Homa, who is ranked eighth best golfer in the world, will be hoping he and Albon can justify their prime spot at the top of the market.

The pair are 2/1 favourites to win the celebrity golf tournament next week with specials betting sites, and Homa is looking good ahead of the match.

He carded a -6 on the first day of the European Tour's Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa on Thursday, five shots ahead of his Netflix Cup rival Thomas.

Homa might need to be on his A-game if the pairing are to win the inaugural tournament.

While Williams Racing driver Albon loves golf and has no doubt been getting regular tips about his game from his girlfriend, Chinese LPGA golfer Lily He - who he has been dating since 2019 - she once described him as "complete chaos on the course".

Speaking about his golf game in November 2022, she told the F1 Nation podcast: "It’s been improving. But he’s complete chaos on the course. If you imagine pure chaos, that’s Alex. Chaos and golf don’t go hand in hand."

Vegas-Born Morikawa Could Be Key

However, Homa and Albon will face serious competition from Morikawa and Gasly, who are just 3/1 second favourites on betting apps to win the Netflix Cup.

Local boy Morikawa was born in Vegas, so that could play to the pair's strengths, and he comes into the inaugural tournament in decent form.

Morikawa triumphed in the Zozo Championship in October to end a 27-month winless run on the PGA Tour, and that will be music to the ears of Gasly, who is a self-confessed golf addict.

Speaking earlier this year, the BWT Alpine F1 Team driver told CBS Sports: "Last year, I started to really get into it and really enjoy and get that sort of addiction of trying to level up your game every single time you go there."

Fowler And Norris Back Of The Grid

While former world number one golfer Thomas has slipped to 28th in the rankings of late, he showed in the recent Ryder Cup's Sunday Singles that he can still perform on the big stage, after beating Sepp Straka to justify his selection as a wildcard.

For the Netflix Cup, he will team up with Sainz, who also has some Ryder Cup experience in the form of the celebrity All-Star Match at September's tournament.

The Scuderia Ferrari driver partnered with G4D Tour (golf for the disabled) star Tommaso Perrino, but the pair were defeated by tennis legend Novak Djokovic and G4D Tour star Kipp Popert.

It will have been good golfing experience for Sainz, and he and Thomas are 5/1 third favourites with new betting sites for Netflix Cup success.

The pair are being kept off the bottom of the market by the final pairing, Norris and Fowler, who are 8/1 to triumph.

But Fowler will no doubt be delighted to team up with McLaren Racing's Norris. He is a keen golfer, with his handicap said to be around 13, and, like Gasly, he is also "addicted" to the sport.

In 2022, he told Golf Digest: "I’m fully addicted, like, I can’t describe how addicted I am to golf."

Whoever triumphs, this clash of wheels and irons looks set to be some spectacle.
