Will NC State football hit the over/under of 7 wins in 2023?

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Depending on which sports book you look at this summer, NC State is either at 6.5 or 7 wins as the over/under heading into the 2023 season. But after winning eight or more games in five of the last six seasons, is that number too low for the Wolfpack or is it a sign of what's to come for the program this fall?

The Pack returns several key playmakers on offense like Jordan Houston, Terrell Timmons Jr., Michael Allen, Trent Pennix, Porter Rooks and have new transfers and freshmen coming in Robert Anae's first year as offensive coordinator. The biggest question mark is if Brennan Armstrong can bounce back after a disastrous 2022 season with Anae calling the shots for him again.

On defense, Tony Gibson lost a slew of veteran pieces with multiple years of experience from last season, but has the likes of Payton Wilson, Aydan White, Devan Boykin, Davin Vann, CJ Clark and several others returning. Can the defense remain one of the best in the ACC despite all of the departures following the 2022 season?

Michael Clark and Cory Smith give their thoughts in the video above, including how the schedule works out as the Pack will need to finish strong to get over the seven-win hump again. Both Cory and Michael believe it will be tight for State to get to eight or nine wins again, but getting off to a strong start and pulling off some big wins at home could do the trick -- and set the table for a special 2024 season.
