Jets vs. Cowboys Predictions, Picks & Odds Week 2: Jets Can Hang Tough in Dallas

The New York Jets visit the Dallas Cowboys without starter Aaron Rodgers, as we share our top Jets-Cowboys predictions based on the latest NFL odds from our best sports betting apps.

The New York Jets rallied to secure a 22-16 victory over the Buffalo Bills after losing Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) before he even completed a pass. Now, Gang Green has Zach Wilson starting behind center against a Dallas Cowboys defense that looked dominant in Week 1.

Dallas dismantled the New York Giants on the road last week, and the Big D defense yielded only 171 yards, scored twice, and forced three turnovers.

Here is our best Jets-Cowboys prediction and our NFL best bets for Week 2, NFL upset picks and NFL player props (odds via our best NFL betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Jets vs. Cowboys prediction

Everyone seems to think the Jets’ season is over now that Rodgers is injured. Yet the team's defense will keep it in every game, and that should help New York steal a few wins.

I don’t believe the Jets are going to beat the Cowboys, especially considering the strength of Dallas' defensive line. However, this spread is way too large given the effectiveness of the Jets' defense.

The Jets trailed the Bills 13-3 at halftime. The defense clamped down and didn’t allow any points for the first 29:58 of the second half. The offense didn’t look great, but Wilson did manage 14 completions for 140 yards, and Breece Hall ran for 127 yards on 10 carries.

The Cowboys are going to be a good team, but the public overreaction to their Week 1 win is extreme. The offense only registered 265 yards and 18 first downs, and it's about to face a much better defense than in Week 1. The Jets’ defense will keep this close from start to finish, even though the Cowboys will likely win by a score.

The Jets may not be able to pull off the outright upset, but our Connor Cooper has provided NFL Week 2 upset picks, while Neil Parker is offering NFL Week 2 survivor picks.

Jets vs. Cowboys best odds

DraftKings and FanDuel are featuring the Jets as 9.5-point underdogs, while the other three major sportsbooks are posting +9. DraftKings is the only one of our best sportsbooks posting -110 for +9.5, so there's really no doubt about where to wager.

FanDuel’s price is -115, which suggests that book may move its line back to +9 before long. Because of that and what the other sportsbooks are showing, get your wager in soon. It’s looking increasingly unlikely this spread with grow to 10.

Jets vs. Cowboys odds

The Cowboys were just 3-point favorites before the injury to Rodgers. Now they're widely 9.5-point favorites, with 55% of the wagers backing the Cowboys to cover. There isn’t enough support to suggest the line will move to 10.

The total opened at 38.5, and it’s stayed there despite 56% of bettors backing the over. It’s unlikely this number will go much higher, even if the public keeps supporting the Over. Wilson hasn't proven that he can score points consistently, and oddsmakers still don’t really know what the Cowboys’ offense is going to do in 2023.
