Who Will Play in the Super Bowl? Odds & Predictions for the 2024 Matchup

The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers are favored to meet in the Super Bowl based on the NFL odds from our best Super Bowl betting sites as we head toward the AFC and NFC Conference Championship games.

One of the best days of the NFL season is nearly here, with Championship Sunday giving us a pair of heavyweight matchups to determine which two teams will be playing in the Super Bowl.

This season, the Baltimore Ravens will be hosting the AFC Championship Game for the first time in franchise history when the Kansas City Chiefs come to town on Sunday. While knocking off the defending world champs is no easy task, our favorite Chiefs vs. Ravens prediction does believe in a fast start for Baltimore.

In the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader, the San Francisco 49ers will host the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game. This one has always felt like San Francisco's game to lose all year, though Detroit has been one of the best stories in the sport. Our Lions vs. 49ers prediction provides a strong edge in the player props market as well.

Will we get a chalky matchup, as prescribed by the Super Bowl odds, between the Ravens and 49ers, or will Patrick Mahomes lead the Chiefs back to the big stage to add to his impressive legacy?

Here are the latest 2024 Super Bowl odds from our best sports betting apps.

Super Bowl finalist odds 2024

As the No. 1 seeds in the AFC and NFC, respectively, the Ravens and 49ers are being deemed the most likely opponents in the 2024 Super Bowl.

FanDuel is giving these teams an implied 52.38% probability of meeting in the Big Game in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Finalists: Chiefs vs. 49ers (+240 via FanDuel)

As our C Jackson Cowart noted in his Super Bowl prediction, there is value on the Ravens (+200 via BetMGM) if you believe in what DVOA is telling us. That metric grades Baltimore as one of the best teams of all time.

But as far as matchups go, a Ravens-49ers showdown is simply too chalky to go with for this pick. FanDuel is offering minus odds for the two teams to meet, while DraftKings has the value at +105 (implied probability of 48.88%) that the two No. 1 seeds will meet up.

Because I don't see a world where the Detroit Lions make the Super Bowl, the only real angle worth attacking here is believing the best quarterback in the sport will simply find a way. Not a bad strategy, considering Patrick Mahomes is 13-3 in his postseason career and always seems to play his best when the stakes are highest.

Mahomes willed his team victory as a road underdog last weekend, in what was the first road playoff game of his career. Mahomes is capable of accomplishing that feat two weeks in a row, particularly against a Ravens squad that has faced a gauntlet since the Week 13 bye with five of their last six games taking place against playoff teams.

Exact outcome: Chiefs to beat 49ers (+650 via bet365)

If we believe there is value in the Chiefs making the Super Bowl, then it obviously makes sense to bet on them in the Super Bowl. Mahomes has only lost to Tom Brady (twice) and Joe Burrow in his postseason career. To put it kindly, San Francisco QB Brock Purdy won't be mistaken for the same level of player.

The 49ers are obviously a juggernaut, but if the Chiefs made it this far, there are worse things than having a +650 flier via bet365 on arguably the most talented player to ever take a snap. This outcome is fourth in the exacta odds, with an implied probability of 13.3%. Just make sure you avoid the +475 price on the same ticket at Caesars.

Much has been made about how this year's supporting cast is the worst the Chiefs have ever had, but I think that's a bit overblown, especially when you consider how talented this defensive unit is. The Chiefs rank second in scoring defense and yards allowed, both of which are by far the best marks in the Mahomes era.

Despite the criticism around the offense, this unit appears to be rounding into form at the right time. The Chiefs posted a 76% DVOA in their win over the Buffalo Bills during the Divisional Round, marking their strongest single-game performance of the year.

The Chiefs are inevitable. We might as well make money off it.
