2024 NASCAR Phoenix odds, best bets and longshot picks for Shriners Children's 500

Three races into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season and one thing is clear: It’s a Chevrolet world.

The manufacturer has won every race so far, including the Hendrick Motorsports team taking two of them – William Byron in the Daytona 500 and Kyle Larson in last week’s race in Las Vegas.

Can Chevy make it four in a row when the green flag drops at the Shriners Children’s 500 at the one-mile Phoenix Raceway on Sunday afternoon (3:30 p.m., FOX)?

While we wait for that answer, we do know one thing right now: What happens Sunday will go a long way for teams and drivers the rest of the season, as the Cup Series Championship race will be back at Phoenix in November for all the marbles.

This week’s race is also the first time the new NASCAR short-track/road-course package will be used, which has cars running a simplified diffuser on tracks a mile or shorter and on road courses – except for Bristol and Dover.

Kyle Busch and Joey Logano have each won this race three times, the most by any active driver in the starting field, while Denny Hamlin has won it twice.

FrontPageBets takes a look at drivers to watch in the Shriners Children’s 500 at Phoenix.

Pick to win Shriners Children's 500: William Byron (+750)

Once again at the top of the odds boards are two Chevy drivers who have already won this season – Byron and Larson (+650).

Byron won last year’s spring race in Phoenix for his first victory at the one-mile track.

In 12 career starts there, the driver of the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy has seven top-10 finishes, including two top-5s.

Currently, Byron is fourth in Cup points and has finished in the top 10 in two of the three races this season, including his win at Daytona.

Shriners Children's 500 Top-5 pick: Ross Chastain (+155)

Driver of the No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Team Chevy, Ross Chastain is the defending champion at Phoenix, winning the final race of the 2023 season.

Chastain has finished in the top 3 in three of the last four Phoenix races, including a runner-up finish two years ago.

A win Sunday would make him the seventh different Cup driver to win consecutive Phoenix races, joining Kevin Harvick, who swept in 2006 and then won four in a row from the 2013 playoffs through the 2015 spring race.

Chastain is fifth in Cup points and has back-to-back top-10 finishes, including fourth last week in Las Vegas.

Shriners Children's 500 Longshot pick: Chase Briscoe (+2200)

The driver of the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford won the spring race in Phoenix in 2022 in just the third Cup start of his career at the one-mile track.

Since, Chase Briscoe has finished in inside the top 10 in two of the last three races there, as well as leading 114 career laps in six starts.

Briscoe’s average Phoenix finish is 15.5.
