Angels vs Padres Odds, Picks and Predictions

The Los Angeles Angels will take on the San Diego Padres on Wednesday for one of the team’s tougher MLB games of this three-game set. San Diego is looking like one of the MLB teams that people expected them to be in the first two games of this series, winning 10-3 in Game 1 and 8-5 in Game 2.

Los Angeles continues to struggle. With Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout hitting the MLB injury report, things look like they could be changing in Los Angeles. The Angels will have a decision to make, and this could be the end of Ohtani and Trout in California.

When thinking about our MLB picks in this game, the odds are going to be important. With the two best Los Angeles Angels players missing this game, it seems smart to likely bet on the Padres.

Moneyline: The Padres enter play at -190 on the moneyline. Los Angeles, on the other hand, enters play at +160.

Run Line: The Padres are at +110 on the run line. The Angels are at -130 on the run line.

Over/Under: The over/under is currently slotted at 8.5, which might be a good play as well. Given some of the MLB player stats without Trout and Ohtani, hammering whoever the Padres are playing seems to be a good bet.

Los Angeles Angels vs San Diego Padres

Location of the game: Petco Park, San Diego, CA.

Date & Time: Wednesday, June 5. 8:40 pm ET.

How to watch: MLB.TV

Patrick Sandoval will get the start for the Los Angeles Angels, and that could be good news for them. Despite Los Angeles not seeing much success in the MLB standings, it’s tough to blame that on Sandoval.

On the season, he owns an ERA of 4.69, but most of that is because of a few bad recent outings. Before his past few starts, he was a guy with an ERA flirting around 2.9 and 3.2. He’ll need to get back on track to get back to form. And while this is a tough game on their MLB schedule, he has what it takes to get it done. The reason the Angels vs Padres odds look this way is that Sandoval can get outs.

Seth Lugo is a veteran in this league and can help the Padres get a much-needed win in the San Diego Padres schedule. It’ll be interesting to see if he can deliver, as the numbers have been good this season. He comes into this one with an ERA of 3.59 and a WHIP of 1.27. The numbers aren’t overly impressive, but he can get outs, and that’s all he needs to do.

Our MLB picks will be backing him, so hopefully, he can limit the Angels and do what’s needed. This Angels lineup is much different without Trout and Ohtani, making them one of the worst MLB teams when they’re both out. Lugo should find a way to take advantage of that unless Los Angeles comes out and does something they typically don’t do.

Since we know the Angels vs Padres odds, the best bet of the day is going to be backing the under of 8.5 for -115 odds and taking the Padres on the run line at -1.5 for +110 odds.
