These are two elite defenses, with the Sun Devils ranking 17th nationally in opponent field goal percentage (46%) while USC is 11th (45.5%). Nonetheless, I’m betting the OVER in this matchup for a few reasons.

In the first game between these teams, both squads made 14 free throw attempts. That’s important because that’s the path to a high-scoring game. Both clubs are outside of the top 300 teams in defensive rebounding percentage, so opponents are able to get easy looks inside and generate fouls to get to the free-throw line.

Arizona State nabbed 17 offensive boards and the Trojans got 13 in that game, generating extra points as a result.

Neither team defends the perimeter well either, ranking outside the top 120 in opponent three-point percentage.

Trends on both sides support an over play as well. The over is 7-2 in Arizona State’s last nine games on the road, including hitting in three straight. For USC, the over hit in each of its last four games as a home favorite.
