The Austrian GP this weekend is bound to give Max Verstappen a big chance of furthering his lead in the 2023 Drivers Standings, at the Red Bull Ring.

Verstappen is of course the heavy odds-on favourite to win this weekend in Austria, as well as odds-on to record the fastest time in the qualifier.

Last year Verstappen set the fastest lap time at 1:07.275 and went into the race in pole position.

But it was Charles Leclerc who finished on top taking the first spot on the podium.

Lewis Hamilton came in third 41.217 seconds behind but it should be another victory for the Dutchman, who has won here three times already.

Ferrari however, have seven victories here, including last year but that was their first since 2003.

McLaren haven't won in Austria since 2001 but Mercedes have had great recent success here, winning in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020, aligning with Red Bull (2018, 2019, 2021).

However, it's worth noting that all that success for Mercedes and Red Bull has come on the Red Bull Ring, which has only been active since 2011, having previously been driven around the A1-Ring.

Ferrari haven't really been at the races though and it's only been Red Bull, Aston Martin and Mercedes dominating the podium so far this season.

Ferrari have recorded just one podium finish whereas Red Bull have finished in the top three 12 times and occupy the top two Driver spots, holding 321 points in the Constructors' Championship.

Austrian GP Odds

  • Max Verstappen (Red Bull) 1/2
  • Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) 4/1
  • Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) 10/1
  • Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) 14/1
  • Sergio Perez (Red Bull) 14/1
  • Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) 20/1
  • George Russell (Mercedes) 33/1

Austrian GP Betting Tips

  • Podium Finish - Lewis Hamilton 10/11

Hamilton doesn't necessarily win here a lot but Mercedes certainly do and he's one of the most consistent this season behind the Red Bull drivers.

Hamilton finished here third last year and won back in 2016 and out of all the odds-on prices for a podium finish there's the most value with Hamilton, though Perez at just 5/6 also warrants consideration with his four podium finishes already this season.

Aston Martin are doing much better this season and with Fernando Alonso at the wheel have secured six podium finishes altogether, and to spring a surprise in the fastest qualifier is a very tempting 10/1 price, paying 1/3 each-way.
