Betting tips for Fulham vs Tottenham: Premier League preview and odds

Belfast Telegraph

Fulham and Tottenham are both looking to return to winning ways when they meet at Craven Cottage in the Premier League this evening.

The Cottagers suffered their first defeat since the World Cup break when losing 1-0 at Newcastle last time out.

Before that loss, Fulham had won four in a row across all competitions and they head into Monday’s clash seventh in the table, just two points and two places adrift of the visitors.

Spurs have lost on their previous two league outings, going down against Arsenal and Manchester City, and they have only won two of their past seven to slip six points adrift in the race for a top-four berth.

They did win the reverse fixture 2-1 in September when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane netted to cancel out Aleksandar Mitrovic’s strike.

Spirited Spurs can earn comeback win

Tottenham have gained a reputation for being slow starters this season, with 27 of their 39 goals being scored in the second half of Premier League games.

They have conceded the first goal in 12 of their 20 outings, including 10 times when playing away from home, and that trend looks set to continue when they make the short trip to west London.

Fulham have bagged the opener in 10 of their 20 fixtures and six times at Craven Cottage, but they have struggled to get the job done and earn victory against sides placed above them in the table.

Both Newcastle and Manchester United, who sit third and fourth respectively, have taken three points away from their trips to Fulham, while the Cottagers have lost three of their five meetings with London clubs this campaign.

Tip: Tottenham to win from behind @ 8/1 with Betfred

Palhinha set for tough evening

Striker Mitrovic has been the star man for Fulham this season, netting 11 goals, but summer arrival Joao Palhinha has been integral to their success in midfield.

Palhinha is one of the first names on the team sheet for boss Marco Silva because of his ability to break up play and get the Cottagers moving forward.

However, the Portuguese is no stranger to a booking and he looks a likely candidate to receive a card.

Only Manchester United have picked up more yellow cards (50) than Fulham’s tally of 49 – and Palhinha, along with Bobby De Cordova-Reid, lead the way with six each.

Tottenham’s midfield, especially with the recent return of Rodrigo Bentancur, could have a big say in this clash – and Palhinha will have the task of trying to slow them down.

Tip: Joao Palhinha to be carded @ 7/4 with Betfred

Kane key to Tottenham hopes

England ace Kane has, once again, been Spurs’ most potent asset in front of goal this season, netting on 15 occasions.

He has a habit of registering against Fulham, scoring in the reverse fixture to take his tally to seven in six previous encounters.

Kane offers good value to net anytime in this clash and makes up part of our #PickYourPunt selection with Betfred.

The other half requires over 2.5 goals to be scored, something that has landed in 16 of Fulham’s 20 fixtures this term, including nine of their 10 at home.

At least three goals have been scored in 12 of Tottenham’s games and in six of their 10 on the road.

Tip: Harry Kane to score any time and over 2.5 goals @ 13/8 with Betfred
