Low-scoring encounter expected

Scotland play host to Spain this evening in what is expected to be a huge test for the home side as they look to prove their worth and continue their strong start to Euro 2024 qualification.

Both nations began their campaigns in great fashion with 3-0 wins over Cyprus and Norway respectively.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke will hope to guide his team into the Euros after missing out on a World Cup berth, while Spain are in a new era after boss Luis Enrique was replaced by Luis de la Fuente.

In the Scots’ previous eight matches in all competitions, both teams have scored just three times, with the emphasis on defensive strength rather than free-flowing attacking football.

In six of Spain’s past 10 games in all competitions, both sides have failed to score – and we are expecting this run to continue, with goals at a premium.

The Spaniards found it tough at times during the World Cup in Qatar to break down opposition, with a 0-0 and penalty shootout defeat to Morocco their ultimate downfall.

Both sides in Glasgow will be keen to avoid defeat after winning their opening matches, and this could be a cagey fixture with neither nation desperately chasing three points.

Scotland vs Spain tip 1: Both teams to score – no @ 4/5 with BoyleSports

Olmo key for Spain

Dani Olmo has been an important player for Spain from the very start of his international career and the RB Leipzig man performs to a high level for country as well as club.

He scored in the World Cup and was a valiant asset at Euro 2020, where he got three assists in the knockout stages.

Olmo, who netted against Norway in Spain’s 3-0 home victory on Saturday, will pose a significant threat to Scotland.

A clinical player, he got that goal with his only shot against the Norwegians, and we expect him to be prominent in the final third at Hampden.

Scotland vs Spain tip 2: Dani Olmo to score anytime @ 15/8 with BoyleSports

McGinn in for a busy evening

Aston Villa captain John McGinn, a mainstay in the Scotland side, is going to be key if they are going to get anything from this game because of the amount of attacking quality he will have to thwart.

The 28-year-old midfielder has picked up five Premier League yellow cards in 23 matches for his club this term and in the previous two campaigns he amassed 20 cautions in total.

McGinn will be bidding to stop the likes of Gavi, Iago Aspas and Olmo, with Spain expected to dominate possession, and it would not be a surprise to see him having to forcefully foul to stop the visitors breaking forward.

Scotland vs Spain tip 3: John McGinn to be booked @ 7/4 with BoyleSports
