Blue Jays same-game parlay predictions vs. Rangers Sept. 12: Bet on Toronto and Guerrero Jr.

The Toronto Blue Jays look to pull even in their series with the Texas Rangers after dropping the opener.

The pregame narrative: Toronto was blown out on Monday but we're backing the team as a run-line underdog. Both teams are sending quality starters to the bump, which has us teasing up the total and backing the under. Thirdly, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. appears to be a nice option to record a hit.

Blue Jays vs. Rangers same-game parlay picks

Parlay: Blue Jays +1.5 + Under 9.5 runs + Guerrero over 0.5 hits (+210)

Blue Jays +1.5 (-175): Toronto wasn't even close in Monday's loss, but a more competitive effort is expected on Tuesday.

Hyun Jin Ryu gets the ball and he's keeping the Blue Jays in games. They're 5-2 straight up with him this season and he enters tonight with a 2.65 ERA.

Opposing hitters have only been able to muster a .655 OPS against the lefty in 2023.

Max Scherzer takes the mound for the Rangers and although he's been largely solid since joining his new squad, he is coming off a brutal start. He allowed seven earned runs in a 12-3 loss to the Houston Astros.

Texas hasn't covered this number in three of his last four starts.

Other parlay picks

Under 9.5 runs (-215): Secondly, we're not anticipating another offensive explosion from either of these teams.

Although Texas is third in runs per game (5.50), it isn't hitting the cover off the ball lately. The Rangers have scored 19 runs in their last two games, but they had just 16 in the five previous outings (3.2 per game).

Ryu isn't getting lit up, either. He has allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last six appearances.

The same is true about Scherzer outside of his most recent start. He had a 2.21 ERA and a 2.47 FIP in six starts with Texas before that.

The under on this total has hit in five of his last seven outings.

Guerrero over 0.5 hits (-275): Guerrero has had a good amount of success against Scherzer despite limited opportunities.

The Blue Jays slugger has two hits — both home runs — in six plate appearances against the Rangers' starter.

Guerrero isn't on a heater by any stretch, but he does have a hit in 17 of his last 21 games.
