Blue Jays same-game parlay predictions vs. Nationals Aug. 30: Bet on Bassitt to deal and Toronto to win

The Toronto Blue Jays are in desperate need of a win tonight in their series finale against the Washington Nationals.

The pregame narrative: With last night's loss Toronto is now 3.5 games back of the AL's final wild-card spot. It feels like the Jays' season is on the precipice but Chris Bassit has been stellar at home and we expect him to steady the ship. We're also backing Davis Schneider to stay hot.

Blue Jays vs. Nationals same-game parlay picks

Parlay: Blue Jays moneyline + Bassit 5.5 strikeouts + Schneider over 0.5 hits (+195)

Blue Jays moneyline (-230): The Blue Jays lost in disasterous fashion again last night and have now dropped five of their past seven games. It's tough to be optimistic about this team on a macro level but we feel confident Bassitt can put Toronto back in the win column tonight.

The right-hander has been stellar at Rogers Centre this season, posting a 3.07 ERA and .191 opponent batting average across 82.0 IP. He's been hot and cold this month, though, with two quality starts and two outings where he's allowed four earned runs.

Washington counters with Patrick Corbin. The lefty owns a bloated 4.70 season-long ERA but he has turned in three quality starts in his last four outings. But the Jays tend to do well against left-handed pitching — they're fifth in team BA (.276) and eighth in wRC+ (113) — and also own the best interleague record in MLB (27-15).

Other parlay picks

Bassitt over 4.5 strikeouts (-157): Washington isn't a swing-happy team but this is a line Bassitt shouldn't have much trouble clearing.

The righty has notched five-plus Ks in nine of his last 10 outings and in 21 of 27 on the season. He also owns a 9.0 K/9 rate at Rogers Centre compared to a 7.9 K/9 mark on the road.

Schneider over 0.5 hits (-278): Put Schneider in the lineup and good things will happen — especially when he's going up against a lefty. The moustachioed rookie has hits in nine of his 12 career starts with 19 total knocks in that span.

He's hitting .409/.458/1.136 against LHP in that span with five home runs and a double. One of those bombs was a towering solo shot last night.

Backing Schneider to record two-plus bases (+105) is a play we'd recommend, but for the purposes of this parlay, we'll take the safe route.
