Browns vs. Eagles Predictions, Picks & Odds: DTR Gets Extended Run

Week 2 of the NFL preseason begins with exciting rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson starting for the Cleveland Browns against the Philadelphia Eagles. Here are our Browns vs. Eagles predictions based on the best NFL odds from our best NFL betting sites.

The Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles will open the second week of the preseason and the Browns are taking an opposite approach than the previous games.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start Thursday's game and that Kellen Mond will play in the second half, reversing the order from the quarterback rotation in the Hall of Fame Game. No. 1 QB Deshaun Watson and projected backup Joshua Dobbs will again get the night off.

Thompson-Robinson has impressed during his limited time on the field. He led a come-from-behind 21-16 victory over the New York Jets in the Hall of Fame Game, going 8-for-11 passing, throwing a game-winning 22-yard touchdown pass, and adding 36 rushing yards on six scrambles. The fifth-round pick then went 9-for-10 for 102 yards and a touchdown during a 17-15 loss to the Washington Commanders last week.

The Eagles have yet to share their plan of action for Thursday, but expect a healthy dose of third-string quarterback Tanner McKee and fourth-stringer Ian Book.

Here is our best Browns vs. Eagles prediction (odds via our best NFL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were few props available for Thursday night's game. Our best sports betting apps were only offering lines on the spread, total, and moneyline for the entire game.

With what we've seen thus far from DTR, my preference will be to play the Browns' first-half spread and moneyline. Assuming the Eagles will be sitting their defensive starters and playing many second- and third-stringers, Thompson-Robinson should again get a chance to shine.

Once first-half lines are available, I'll be sharing my pick here. In the meantime, I'll be taking the Browns +3.5 at -110. There's certainly a path to an outright victory for the Browns. Even if Thompson-Robinson struggles more than he has to this point in the preseason, Mond has proven capable against a lower level of competition.

Mond has gone 20-for-31 for 171 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in his two appearances.

The Browns have also had the benefit of playing two preseason games to this point to the Eagles' one.

Browns vs. Eagles best odds

Our best sports betting apps are in unison on the early lines for this Week 2 preseason matchup. There's no variance in the lines or odds at most sportsbooks.

Browns vs. Eagles odds

The Eagles opened as -1 favorites, but the spread has since grown to -3.5 across most betting sites. The moneyline was first posted at -120 for the Eagles, but the odds now vary from -180 to -185 at the best books.

There's been minimal movement on the total, which opened at 37.5 and can be found at 38 at such books as DraftKings and PointsBet.
