The Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4) don’t know who will start for them at quarterback on Sunday due to the lingering hope that Trevor Lawrence is healthy enough to give it a go following an ugly ankle injury.

It sounds like the Cleveland Browns (7-5) do know who will start for them at quarterback, but they aren’t spilling the beans. We decided to wager a guess, as we believe the Cleveland quarterback could find success against this Jacksonville secondary.

Joe Flacco Over 193.5 passing yards (-114 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

If Flacco starts at quarterback for the Browns on Sunday, his line sitting below 200 passing yards against Jacksonville is likely to be a strong value for player prop bettors.

Joe Cool came back into our lives last weekend, as the Browns grabbed him off the street to step in as their starting QB amid less-than-ideal circumstances all year for the team under center. Although the Browns lost their Week 13 matchup against the Rams, Flacco threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns to go along with one costly interception.

While Flacco wasn’t a difference-maker, he demonstrated more ability at age 38 than we’ve come to expect from rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Jaguars just allowed 354 passing yards to Cincinnati Bengals backup QB Jake Browning and rank 30th in the NFL in pass defense (261.7 YPG); Flacco can take advantage of this group.

DTR has topped out at a measly 165 passing yards in three separate cracks at the primary QB role this season. Though the Browns might wince at the idea of Flacco costing the team a game with some aggressive decision-making, it’s not like Thompson-Robinson (4 INTs) has protected the football, either.

Conceivably, Thompson-Robinson could start the game before giving way to Flacco, who sees enough action to fail to get this prop voided. But we’re betting Kevin Stefanski knows DTR isn’t the answer for a Cleveland team in contention.

Entering the weekend, FanDuel is the only spot among our best NFL betting sites offering a passing prop for this Week 14 matchup. If Flacco is named the starter at some point this weekend, we would expect this number to increase closer to kickoff given Jacksonville’s weak secondary; we would play this prop up to 214.5 passing yards.

A word of caution: FanDuel is notorious for not voiding bets in instances where other sportsbooks would, so the risk of this suggestion at this particular book could come into play if Thompson-Robinson is announced as the starter.

The Jaguars opened as 2.5-point road favorites and have seen the line flip to Cleveland being favored by between 2.5 and 3 points as a result of Lawrence’s status.

The total opened at 40 and has cratered to between 33 and 33.5 with the possibility of backup QBs starting on Sunday. Money has poured in on the Under throughout the week in response to the uncertainty surrounding the quarterback spot for both teams.
