Sportsbooks have yet to post odds for the Beaver’s Week 2 matchup with the Aggies due to UC Davis’ status as an FCS school. The Big Sky Conference squad went 6-5 last year and opened 2023 with a 48-10 win over Texas A&M-Commerce.

The Aggies will be no competition for the Beavers, especially at Reser Stadium. UC Davis’ lone 2022 matchup vs. an FBS opponent ended in a 34-13 setback vs. Cal.

Oregon State impressed in Week 1, defeating San Jose State 42-17. The Beavers gained 473 yards of offense while holding the Spartans to only 279 yards.

Damien Martinez was the unofficial MVP of the game, rushing for 145 yards and averaging 8.1 yards per carry. John McCartan was also impressive, recording two sacks, one forced fumble and three tackles.

Expect a colossal win for the Beavers on Saturday. Jonathan Smith’s main concern will be keeping his players healthy heading into Week 3.

D.J. had arguably the best Labor Day Weekend in Corvallis. Not only did he throw for 239 yards, three touchdowns, and rush for two scores, but he was also treated to Duke’s massive upset of Clemson on Monday night.

When Uiagalelei transferred to Oregon State, he was considered damaged goods after not getting the job done with the Tigers. The 22-year-old has the sixth-most passing yards and touchdowns in Clemson history but never led the team to the College Football Playoff.

After D.J.’s Clemson successor, Cade Klubnik threw for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 62% passing, it seems that Dabo Swinney and his coaching staff may have been the issue, not Uiagalelei.

The California native was sharp on Sunday, and he has the opportunity to put up a massive stat line in Week 2 vs. UC Davis. Doing so will go a long way in aiding Uiagalelei’s 2023 numbers as he embarks on a potential Heisman-winning campaign.

Uiagalelei would be the first Beaver to win the award since Terry Baker in 1962.
