Oregon State hosts San Diego State at Reser Stadium, where the Beavers are 1-0 in 2023. Last season, Oregon State held a 6-1 record in Corvallis, and the lone loss was by three points to USC.

Damien Martinez is off to a hot start, ranking second in the Pac-12 with 249 rushing yards. The Beavers’ defense hasn’t faced a quality opponent yet but has taken care of business, allowing only 12 points per game. Oregon State has excelled at pressuring the passer, tallying six sacks on the year, and John McCartan leads the bunch with two sacks.

San Diego State is 2-1 with victories vs. Ohio and Idaho State and a 35-10 Week 2 loss to UCLA. In 2022, the Aztecs were winless against power-five teams, suffering setbacks to Arizona and Utah.

San Diego State’s offense was on point vs. Ohio and Idaho State, scoring 56 total points. But the Aztecs only mustered 10 points vs. a below-average UCLA defense. Last year, the Bruins ranked in the bottom half of the Pac-12, giving up 28 points per game, while the Beaver’s 21 points allowed per game was second best.

Yards and points will be tough to come by for the Aztecs on Saturday. Oregon State will have no issue putting points on the board, but it’s unlikely San Diego State will be able to keep pace and hit the over.

Martinez has been unstoppable for the Beavers, rushing for the 11th-most yards in FBS. The 19-year-old’s best game came against San Jose State when he ran for 145 yards on 18 carries, averaging over eight yards per touch.

Oregon State creamed UC Davis 55-7, so Martinez’s snap count was limited. But he made the most of his opportunities, rushing for 104 yards on seven hand-offs, good for just under 15 yards per carry.

Because the Aztecs will keep the game more competitive than UC Davis did, expect a larger workload from Martinez. Plus, San Diego State allowed 128 yards on the ground last year, making Martinez’s rushing yards prop one of the best bets of Week 3.
