Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins Prediction 9-15-23 MLB Picks

The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox meet Friday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. This will be the second installment in a four-game weekend series. In the Thursday opener, the Twins put up a dominant victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Minnesota Twins

The Twins played the Rays in their last series, winning 3-2 Tuesday but falling in the other pair of games 7-4 and 5-4. In Thursday’s opener versus the Sox, Minnesota had four runs in both the seventh and ninth innings during a 10-2 win. Edouard Julien, Royce Lewis (two RBI) and Kyle Farmer (two RBI; two runs) each had a home run in the victory.

In the starter role for the Friday game the Twins are sending out Bailey Ober. This year in 22 starts Ober is 6-6 with a 3.67 ERA and 120 Ks in 122.2 innings. Ober is 0-2 over his last seven starts with a 6.09 ERA and 23 earned in 34.0 frames total.

Chicago White Sox

Over on the White Sox’ side, they had some issues with the Royals in their last series. Chicago won 6-2 in the opener but then fell 11-10 and 7-1 in the next two. In Thursday’s matchup, the White Sox got their only RBI from an Andrew Vaughn home run. Starter Jose Urena gave up six earned on seven hits in 6.1 frames.

It’ll be Jesse Scholtens in the starting role for the White Sox on Friday. Across his 24 games (10 starts) this year Scholtens is 1-8 with a 4.44 ERA and 52 Ks in 79.0 innings. Scholtens is 0-4 with a 6.17 ERA over his last seven starts.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stay with Minnesota in this one. Scholtens is struggling on the mound these days, so the Twins should have some early opportunities at the plate. Over his last two starts, Scholtens is 0-2 with eight earned runs in 8.2 innings total on 17 hits and three walks. If he doesn’t get it turned around, it’ll be a long day for Chicago. On Thursday in the opener, the Twins finished strong with a late rally. Minnesota has four or more runs in five of their last seven games, which is a good sign for this matchup.
